As an iPhone (and iPod Touch) Developer, my mission consist of:
  • Coming up with an Idea that fits the Customer's business.
  • Giving my advices to the customer as to what is feasable on the device and what is not.
  • Proposing an Application Prototype / Worklow if the client has not done it already.
  • Develop the Application, from the start to the end, with the help of Cocoa Touch, Objective C, and the Apple Developer Tools.
  • Test on the different devices in different network situations.
  • Organize a Beta Test Phase with different people (up to 50) before the App is public, to catch all the nasty bugs.
  • Guide the customer for the publishing of the App on the App Store and optionnally publish it under my name and share revenue.
  • And finally, update the app with bug fixes or new features requested by the customer, that might result from users' demands.
As you can see, being an "iPhone Developer" is actually a bit more than "developing" :-) A big chunk of my time is not in writing code. I spend a lot of time watching at my iPhone, at others Apps, and try to be a good citizen on the platform. At the end, my wildest goal :) is to try to make you love the iPhone as much as I do.

* At least trying, but I do my Best :)

What kind of "Touch" device do you have?
